Frequently Asked Questions

An assessment is a structured process where we work closely with you, your child, and other people who know your child well (such as teachers or support workers) to gather a clear picture of their strengths, challenges, and overall needs. The assessment process may include:

Interviews: These can be with you, with your child, with teachers or even other key adults in your child’s life,

Observations: We may need to take a look at your child in a school setting, at home or just watch how they generally adapt to different tasks,

Standardised assessments: These are the evidence-based tools we use to measure your child’s skills and abilities, as informed by our tailored assessment plan,

At-home questionnaires: Sometimes we’ll also ask you, or other professionals to complete supplementary questionnaires at home to give us information from your own perspective.

Once this process is complete, we’ll begin writing your report and get you in to provide some feedback, which is all included in the price of your assessment.

We need to confirm exactly what your child’s assessment may involve before giving you an accurate understanding of costs.

Pricing depends on how many resources we need to dedicate to the assessment, how long it takes and how many pieces of the puzzle we need to collect and analyse. Once we have a better understanding of what you need, we’ll be able to give you an estimate of the costs involved with completing your assessment.

Sometimes we need to collect information from a range of different people, like educators at school or daycare, and any other professionals that may have insights into your child’s needs like an Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, or a Pediatrician. Collecting these details can take some extra time, but it ensures that we get the full picture of your child and their needs before we complete our report.

Once we have all the information we require, we’ll need about two weeks to ensure we’re able to produce a clear and actionable report for you. When the report has been completed, you’ll be contacted to arrange a feedback session where you can discuss the results and ask any questions you may have.

Assessing your child can be an empowering step toward better understanding their needs and creating a tailored approach to help support them through their challenges.

When everyone is on the same page about what’s going on with your child, it creates a collaborative approach to supporting their growth. Whether it’s providing more effective strategies at school or helping to foster social connections, the assessment can helps families to feel more confident in their understanding of their child and what their unique needs are.
